I have always been fascinated with preset packs for plugin synthesizers. While clicking through them, I'm blown away with how amazing some of the sounds are on their own; play one note and it sounds incredible! However, when it comes down to the nitty gritty of actually writing MUSIC, and using those presets in the context of a track, it's often difficult to get such sensational sounds to FIT into my mix just right. I love sound designers. Heck, I'm a sound designer myself, and some of my best friends and colleagues are too! But let's be realistic here - most preset packs are sound designers SHOWING OFF!
This has been my mantra in developing this series of preset packs for various software synthesizers - let's give MUSIC PRODUCERS sounds that they can ACTUALLY USE in their music production! Sounds You'll Actually Use Vol. 1 was created for XFER Serum with this philosophy in mind. Several of the sounds in this pack are recreations of essential, classic dance sounds I have heard (and used) on countless house, techno, and dance tracks for many years. Others are recreations of more modern sounds heard in future house, bass music, dubstep, and trap. In my humble opinion, all 20 of the included sounds (and bonus sound effects) are usable in a broad variety of electronic dance music. Almost all of the patches have made use of Serum's Macro Controls, the Mod Wheel, the Pitch Wheel, and internal effects to give YOU control over the sound in the context of your music. Most of the patches are admittedly a bit raw, but can be easily spiced up with Serum's effects rack, or your own DAW or plugin effects. All sounds (except drums) in the demo song are included in the pack. The demo sounds are not using any external processing. Enjoy, and keep your eyes (and ears) open for Sounds You'll Actually Use Vol. 2!
With love,
